THE STAR MITES GYMNASTICS STORY
“Started by a family, built for families, Star-Mites has been helping kids shine since 1991.”
Star-Mites began in 1991 when Gail, Jack, and their daughter, Suzi Melinger, set out to introduce preschool children in Perth to the joy of gymnastics, eventually growing into the city’s largest fully equipped gymnastics centre in Bayswater.
From those early play-based classes, the club expanded its programs year after year, always wrapped in the belief that every child deserves to feel valued and empowered through movement. In 2003, Liz joined the team, bringing fresh energy and ideas while maintaining the core family-first spirit.
Today, Star-Mites is still a family-owned and run business, led by Liz and her husband, Nick, alongside Gail. They still follow the “every child should be a gymnast” philosophy at the heart of everything we do. From tiny tots rolling on the mats to teens discovering strength and confidence, we’ve grown into more than a gym — we’re a place where little humans learn, laugh, stretch, and shine.
We continue to champion fun, inclusivity, and support, witnessing kids grow into amazing adults both inside and outside the gym.
